Successful treatment of fetal atrial flutter and congestive heart failure

چکیده
deaths from infection (Table 3) be classified as inexplicable. Thus by the definition of Stanton and Oakley,3 among the 837 sudden postneonatal deaths in this series, 739 would be cot deaths of which only 62% were histologically unexplained. Fear of cot death haunts many young parents. Inflated numbers of cot deaths do not ease their anxiety. Misdiagnosis also hinders attempts to understand aetiological mechanisms. Published reports on the sudden infant death syndrome are confused by variations in definition. Meningococcaemia and leukaemia may both present with purpura but this does not mean that they share a common aetiology, and considering them as the same can only confuse.

Successful treatment of fetal atrial flutter and congestive heart failure.
Fetal supraventricular tachycardia may cause congestive heart failure, hydrops fetalis, and intrauterine death. Tachycardia in a fetus of 34 weeks' gestation was diagnosed as atrial flutter by echocardiography, and was successfully treated by giving the mother digoxin.
متن کاملA case of fetal atrial flutter treated successfully by cardioversion in the postnatal period
Fetal atrial flutter (AF) is the second common fetal tachyarrhythmias that exist in less than 1% of all pregnancies. It may be related to congestive heart failure, hydrops, neurologic morbidity, or intrauterine death. Early detection and treatment are crucial for getting better neonatal outcomes. We presented a case of fetal atrial flutter diagnosed in the 36th week of gestation and managed suc...
متن کاملIncessant atrial flutter after device closure of atrial septal defect: successful radio frequency ablation.
A four-month-old baby presented with failure to thrive and congestive cardiac failure precipitated by a lower respiratory tract infection. He was found to have a large ostium secundum atrial septal defect measuring 18 mm. This was successfully closed percutaneously by a device (Blockaid). A month after the device deployment the child developed typical atrial flutter. Despite rate control drugs ...
متن کاملA Case Report of Neonatal Atrial Flutter with Poor Feeding and Tachypnea
Background: Arrhythmias in neonates are not common and usually affect newborns with a normal heart or those that suffer from structural heart disease. A malignant type of arrhythmias is supraventricular tachycardia. Meanwhile, one uncommon type of supraventricular arrhythmias is atrial flutter (AFL), which is founded upon reentry mechanisms in the atrium. The AFL may result in heart failure or ...
متن کاملResolution of cardiomyopathy after ablation of atrial flutter.
OBJECTIVES We sought to serially assess left ventricular (LV) function before and after catheter ablation of atrial flutter (AFI). BACKGROUND The relation of tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy to AFI and its response to direct catheter ablation are unknown. METHODS LV function was assessed in a series of 59 consecutive patients with successful radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of AFI before and...
